Our Mission
Wadmalaw Island, South Carolina, reachable only by a single, narrow bridge over Church Creek, remains as it always was, and always will be. Although only 30 minutes from the incomparable elegance of historic Charleston, it is a world apart--a Lowcountry Eden of marshes and mystery where the earth and the sea marry, and murmur and moan in harmony ... and dissonance. The size of Manhattan, but home to only a few hundred permanent residents, in all shapes and sizes the farms and homes, and churches and praise houses, reflect an agrarian tradition of three centuries, seasoned with the abundant shrimp, crab and fish that thrive in the surrounding waters. There is no industry, no commercial activity other than farming and shrimping--only a way of life, and a pervasive spirituality.
Sheldon Farms is a small, family-owned preserve, protected against development by conservation easements, dedicated to appreciating all that is magical about the Lowcountry. The spectacular orchards, fields, horse pastures, maritime forests, and fully-stocked freshwater lake define a pastoral retreat and animal sanctuary.
Sheldon Farms Brands is a purveyor of two fine food products, Sheldon Farm Fire Roasted Habanero Hot Sauce and Sheldon Farms Seasoning Salt, both of which include natural ingredients indigenous to the Lowcountry. These products are for sale on the Sheldon Farms Brands page.
